Where Is Your Power Leaking?

Where Is Your Power Leaking?

How to Stop Feeding Old Dramas and Reclaim Your Life Force

In my private and group sessions, I often see people get emotionally pulled into a difficult period of their past while explaining current problems. An adult woman might bring up a painful piece of her history: “I grew up without a father,” “I had a toxic relationship with my mother,” or “My first love ended in brutal betrayal.”Sharing past wounds is completely normal. The real question is: from what psychological place within yourself are you speaking?

As a therapist, my main diagnostic marker is when someone starts looping emotionally, obsessing over the details of an event that happened years ago. This means the situation remains wide open and unresolved. You are caught in a downward spiral, and a massive amount of your vital energy is constantly leaking from your present back into that old wound. That experience simply needs to be put in its proper place.

⚪ Authentic Resolution vs. Emotional Looping

There is a massive difference between a mature acknowledgment of your history and getting emotionally pulled back into it:

Authentic, Balanced Resolution: You speak about your past calmly, like a closed chapter in a book. The story no longer dictates your present, and your energy stays with you. However, there is a dangerous trap here — faking emotional balance. People often play the "healed" card as a hidden psychological benefit to protect their ego. They don't want to look damaged or weak. In therapy, they try to convince me that they are "completely over it." Yet, the energetic field never lies—it leads me straight to the leak. Behind that perfectly calm tone, the trauma is still boiling and bleeding. Real awareness means listening to your therapist when this happens.

Emotional Looping: You relive the drama in real-time, endlessly expanding the topic and dissecting the details. By doing this, you voluntarily feed your life force to something that no longer exists.

Both a fake sense of balance and openly reliving the drama cause the exact same thing: a massive, subconscious drain on your everyday energy.

⚪ Trapped by the Aggressor and the Illusion of Accountability

If your trauma involved a specific wrongdoer, resentment binds you to them. Replaying the thought, “Look at how they treated me back then,” hands your personal remote control directly to that person. You give them your experience, your growth, and your current power.

The only way out of this cycle is true accountability. But people misunderstand this term entirely, confusing it with everyday survival—thinking it means they have to carry everything alone, reject their partner’s support, or handle the entire budget themselves. That is a complete misunderstanding.

In therapy, taking accountability means permanently stripping your past aggressor of the right to consume your energy today. You let go of the blame and place all the authority back into your own hands. You alone decide how to handle your past and what resources to extract from it.

⚪ The Point of Projection and Hidden Payoffs

The psyche only agrees to this massive energy drain because it gets a hidden payoff—an unconscious coping mechanism used to meet unmet needs:

The Voice of the Victim: “I was broken by my past, so everything is hard for me now.” The Payoff:Evading responsibility and justifying the fear of failing in adult life.

The Voice of the False Hero: “Look at the absolute hell I survived!” The Payoff: Demanding admiration and love through a narrative of struggle.

The Voice of the Martyr: “I carry this cross every single day.” The Payoff: Achieving a sense of moral superiority over everyone else.

Every single one of these psychological games comes with a heavy price tag. Everything we hold inside is either draining us or fueling us. If we want to be our own allies, we must choose to embody the version of ourselves that feeds us.

⚪ Stop Believing the Myth That Suffering Makes You Stronger

Many people live under the illusion that simply going through a rough time automatically makes them strong. It doesn't. Unprocessed trauma damages the psyche: it makes you paranoid, guarded, and resentful of life. Wearing a rigid mask and claiming, “I don’t need anyone, I can do it all myself,” is not strength. It is a paralyzing fear of getting hurt again.

The same goes for empty cliches like “everything happens for a reason” or “this was just a karmic lesson.”When people betrayed you, or when you grew up completely unsupported—it was NOT for the best. It was painful and destructive. Stop inventing spiritual excuses for those who mistreated you.

True strength and honesty lie in admitting: “Yes, that was a brutal blow. I was deeply hurt. But I am an adult now, and I get to decide how I live my life from this moment on.”

⚪ Master-Level Therapy: Reclaiming Your Inner Authority

True strength comes from how you consciously choose to restructure your experience. You cannot become whole if you dump your current awareness, your old pain, and your defensive pride into the same chaotic pot. Genuine therapy is about separating these ingredients:

1. Isolate the wounded part of you from your healthy, adult, capable self.
2. Give it space and validation: “I see you. It was incredibly hard, and you have every right to feel that pain.”
3. Take its hands off the steering wheel: The scared, deficient part of you no longer has the right to make adult choices or build your future.

This delicate inner alignment is best done in the presence of a master. In a guided therapeutic field, these shifts happen at a much deeper, cleaner, and faster level. But remember: a healer doesn't hand you their own energy; they simply teach you the system.

Healing only happens when your resourceful, adult self steps up to take care of the parts that are still trapped in old trauma or false heroism.

This is how you reclaim your power from the past, turning old pain into your resource and personal strength. In the process, you gain the most important asset of all—the ability to bring order to your own mind.

This creates a rock-solid foundation for the rest of your life. The past loses its grip, the energy leak stops, and you finally step into the world fully mature, whole, and free.
